Why do I always tend to format my shrines like this?
Anyway...
So, I used to have a 3DS. Shocking, I know. But this was about late 2018 to early 2019 I got it. Personally, I think it should have released later on, let the GBA or the NDS have more time in the spotlight, anything to let whatever Nintendo is doing now continue to be thought through. I actually learnt about the game not through advertising, but through DanTDM's play through of it! After that I watched some boss compilations of it, then I got it. I don't really remember when, but I played through it about twice on the 3DS, then once on the Switch. When it came out there, of course.
Miitopia is a silly little about making Miis and sending them on adventures. :33 The plot of it is that there's a Dark Lord stealing peoples faces! It's really goofy, it's most certainly a kids game, but it is quite charming. The land of which it takes place on is called, "Miitopia". Pretty on the nose, there. Basically, you're getting people's faces back by fighting monsters. The faces make them hostile, by the way. Because of the Poop Lord.
Also, you can't control your party members for whatever fucking reason.
I'm not really. It's always on the back burner for me, but the obessions was greater when I wasn't a teenager. I'll admit it here, I have written Miitopia Self-Insert fanfiction. No, I haven't finished it. And I probably won't, but I have it. And it's written in METSGA. Because why not? I wanted to write fanfiction in class, this was how! (I still sometimes do, but less often. I have to focus on my education.)
It was mainly just a retelling of Miitopia. With my characters that I chose. Because obviously. I'm not putting it on the fanfiction page, though.
It does kind of suck with the lack of solid fan community for this game. There are a few interesting concepts in the game that I'd like to explore, and maybe even just have silliness with the day-to-day stuff in that world. But as they say, no one is truly desperate until they have a text editor open infront of them.
I think the reason behind a lot of people dropping the game was because of the whole mechanic where the Dark Lord kidnaps your friends and seals away your powers. It did suck losing all that progress in a new area, but for me it was cool! You got to see new jobs, be one of them, have new team mates, while travelling further to rescue your newly-captured friends. But, again, for others it must have been quite agitating.
Some people refer to the part of the game after beating the Dark Lord as the post-game, but it really isn't. So, the first half of the game is travelling through Greenhorne, Neksdor, Realm of the Fey, and Karkaton, with the second half of the game is going through quests in the Traveller's Hub, exploring Powdered Peaks, Peculia, Nimbus, and finally the Skyscraper and Otherworld. It does really live up to the JRPG trope of fighting an actual god at the end of the story, which is obviously the Darkest Lord. Then after that, you unlock the two post-game areas of Galados Isle and New Lumos.
Greenhorne's a nice start to the adventure, all of the first-part areas really are. I do have a certain distaste for Galados Isle, which only seems to be useful for the Elf class and nothing else, and Peculia, which... it's Peculia. I don't like it.
I don't fully remember my first playthrough of Miitopia. I kind of remember all the twists and turns, I had an idea that there were 3 stages of the Dark Lord so I half planned out for that, but nothing really else! It was a fun time, I maxed out about half my party's levels, I maxed out my Mii's friendship with another one, I never beat the Tower of Dread because I didn't know how to fight without big number go boom (thanks to Pokemon), and I ended up erasing my save file to experience it all again.
That was a bad habit of mine, back when I used to do that. Now, I seem to get too attached to everything to truly get rid of something. I did that to my Pokemon Ultra Moon save file. I'll say nothing else on that matter.
This time was probably based on the Miitopia fanfiction I mentioned. Don't get the timeline wrong, I was writing Miitopia self-insert fanfiction at that time, just on Google Docs. I still have it, and it's only up to halfway through Chapter 2. I say probably because I have a poor memory and actually don't remember, it was like 6 years ago at the time of writing.
Fun Fact: I still have this save file! Because I still have the game card! Everyone is around level 20, in New Lumos, and all the districts aren't fully explored. It's kind of sad, but it'll just take way too long to unlock everything there again, I have other stuff to do. And, plus, I don't really want to. That period of completion in my life is behind me, and that's probably for the better.
I think it went about the same as the first playthrough, with some minor Mii and Job changes. Nothing truly of note.
So, if you hadn't already figured out by now, I sold my 3DS to get a Switch. I may regret it, but it's too far in the past to change it.
After it was announced that Miitopia was coming to the Switch, however, I locked the fuck in, got it, and went onto my third playthrough.
This playthrough, there was much more with everything. Because, of coure, the port had a bunch of new stuff.
With all the new stuff, it lead me to make a discovery... There was another alphabet there... I initialy noticed with the advertisements for all the classes, which I'm pretty sure was in the demo, and I noticed the pattern of repeating characters and amounts of letters, so I set off to catalogue it. So far, I've hit a wall. I only have the J, Q, X and Z characters to go, and I don't think there's just a simple guide online for it. Even so, I want to do this myself.
Continuing on, the horse was delightful in many aspects and not so much in others. It feels a bit forced after 2 straight vanilla playthroughs on the 3DS, and now there's another guy there. Maybe it could've done better, but I don't really care at this point. The horse's name is currently Necrozma, kind of looking like the pokemon, but it was previously Zeckrom and Reshiram! The horse still did look like those pokemon, too.
I also had a trend where I only made Miis of people I knew for the team, but things change. I didn't really want to repeat myself too much, so I had only one slot left. Here, I made the decision to include popular and well known Minecraft Youtuber Ranboo as my final Mii. Because I was pretty deep into my Dream SMP special interest back them. It was of his character on the SMP, not the actual guy, and somehow got the highest relationship level with my Mii???? I still have the save file, but it's on my Switch, so who really cares.
The outings? I did enjoy those, too, it felt like they should've been in the original game! Some of them were eh, but some were pretty nice. I love seeing the goobers just chill and not fight monsters to the death constantly or have idle chatter with that god awful stage event music. Fortunately, it isn't ranked on the OST ranking, but if it was, it would be 'ew' tier.
I haven't played through Miitopia in several years, and now I'm planning on doing another playthrough. Which device? Which version? Well, I'm hoping to emulate the Controllable-Party-Members mod with Miis that are not real people, just for fun. I won't go into specifics because it's private.
I'm hoping in the future I can rekindle my interest in this game, and maybe also Tomodachi Life? The Mii games on the 3DS were very scarce, and it feels like Nintendo is trying to phase them out, or something. It's a bit sad that these goofy guys are going, I wish they could've stayed longer. I guess I'm just stuck in my era of Nintendo games, but I'm fine here. I'm hoping to venture further back and find some more goodies.
Completely extracted from its original page!
THAT 3RD PART THOOOOOOOO. I really like the groove with it, very nice.
baaaaaa badabiiiiiii niyayeso koooooooo! eeeeekirimaaaaaa maaaaaahadooooo yeeeeeedibuuuuuuemaaaaalumaaaaaaan nooooooohoyaaaaaaaiskeeeeee bashudeeeee daradun igunisaishoooo oneeeeeee
as i stated before, this is the superior version of the dark lord themes. it had the fucking great sage motif in it, it makes it even more sad when you know that the actual great sage got taken over by the dark spirit. i fucking love this track, easy top tier.
BRO bro bro, this track is soooooooo gooooooood. i can play this one on the piano. i love when it plays, i love its concept, it has the GREAT SAGE MOTIF broooooooo. bruhjjjjjjjj.
i loved hearing this track :33 sometimes i would beat the darkest lord just to hear this track
How to improve on an already great boss theme: Add electric guitar and more drums and bass. DnB got it right, just add it to more electronic shit. Does actually sound like the end of your journey, but watch out >:)).
Should of played the entire boss fight, and given it the wrath treatment, but HOLY FUCK THIS IS GOOD PLEASE ETCH THIS INTO MY BRAIN LIKE A VINYL!
...
i hated how little i would be able to hear this track ingame without the journal. i loved listening to it as a kid.
its so nice and smol :33
Sounds like an adventure across massive areas but no it's just equipping gear. I like the slight orchestral feel with it.
groovy
banger, so sad it only appeared in that cutscene, seemed overshadowed by the inferior divine theme
i love this track, never really heard it tho, i mainly focused to levelling up the characters i already had
jazzy :))
This song sounds like aloe vera.
Back on my 3DS, I found Powdered Peaks back in Greenhorne, as one does. I loved the music so much, I wondered about what would happen in the area when I eventually got to explore it. I played this specific song on my family's kitchen counter because I liked it so much.
LET'S FUCKING GO NEW LUMOS!
Hell yes, 6/8!
Ice cold.
You can tell I have a minor bias for Nimbus.
Self-explainatory.
Snurp flashbacks.
I made this my sister's ringtone. But bangin' none-the-less.
Chill as fuck.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
Reminds me of grinding on New Lumos for levels. Hell to the fuck yeah...
Very homey, I have a lot of nostalgia with this one. I remember just chilling listening to this song in the inn.
groovy
I like how simple it is.
very nice
nice little ditty :33
very nice track, captures the emotions very well (the swell is really good too)
:))
groove
nice beach holiday track
nice shopping music :))
i almost never got this camping event, so sad
i like the swing
the rising scales do increase the tension
very 80s/90s-ish, and groovy :33
i used to listen to this song on loop
never got to fully interact with this guy, had no amiibos :((
feels so disorienting compared to the other town tracks (yes im counting this as a town track). i like it :))
the true town theme
the main place i heard this track was in the casting call game on the 3ds. i loved the second part but never figured out what the second half of the song was (like an idiot)
autism music
loved this theme, still do. very rewarding
it sure sounds like it
i love how peaceful it is
i distinctly remember that someone overheard me listening to this song and mocked me behind my back right in front of me. shame on them they dont fucking appreciate good music and cant respect other's tastes, good fucking luck being a fulfilling person ex-peer.
very nice dance music, no wonder it was a magic spell
ive heard that motif somewhere before /:||
sadge :((
barely heard this theme because i always chose to save the dark curse
sounds like pkmn dungeon music. i was always pissed off on how the game never remembered the character i chose for the dark curse
mmmmmmmmmbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
dua dua lalalalalalalalalaala
yeah ditty
very good arrival music, shame we only really got to hear them once tho ://
Yippee!!
Desert Scene: ; Music Makers: BRING OUT THE COMPLEX KEYS!
It is pretty Peculia.
Nimbus, land of Autism.
It does sound like close to the end of a journey. It is a real shame the stage theme did not match.
ooooeeeeeeeeooooaaaaoooo...
Piercing the skies, the end of your journey is at hand.
I had the custom Miitopia trailers thing on my 3DS, and at the end of the longest one, the second part of this song played at the end, advertising the game. For the longest time, I did not know where this song came from, I went scowering for it, until much later I found it. This is basically a second remix of A Simple Traveller.
This is one of the best stage tracks. A standout in Greenhorne.
Galados Isle if it was good.
Hell to the fuck yeah.
Strange place, I guess?
>:))
It's Nimbus, what more do I say?
This beat isn't sterile, it's funky and fuck.
Sonic CD USA Soundtrack but without the Dad rock.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. There is no way this can end badly.
I get it, I'm at the beach.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!
Are there vocals? I swear there are...
Increasingly more epic than Greenhorne's, of course.
It's a tad generic, but good? Maybe it's because I listened to this soundtrack a lot, this is my bottom line for genericness...
This is so ingrained in my brain from the amount of boss battles I've done.
I used to not like this as much as the other main boss battle themes, but I have grown to love it.
I used to like it more, II has taken that spot.
This is too ingrained in me to rank higher. It's good, but oversaturated.
ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE TWO VERSIONS OF THE SONG.
I am looking you straight in the eye. This phase was hard the first time. Truly desperate.
This is COMICAL, why does it play after the FINAL FUCKING BOSS?! HUH?! It's like "We just slayed a god... YIPPEE!!!!!!!!"
Way to rub salt in the wound for forfeiting.
Embodiment of YIPPEE!
Sounds like end credits themes.
Hello Gerudo Town.
Sounds like Lo-Fi.
is bro fartin????????
standard rock song
the bass tho
bro how did you interpret that by random fucking words?
it just doesnt hit the same without all the other parts
Don't really like it, not my taste.
just a flourish
again
its nice, but not for me
standard
this fucking guy. bro give me my fucking money you cheater
ditty
ditto
standard
does capture the emotion
mm
nice waltz
ditty
for some reason i have flashbacks relating to this ditty
reminds me of the enternainer
similar to 045, but better and simpler
every town uses the same structure for the song
ditto
this one is actually slightly different
yeah
all ditties, i heard 058 a lot because i maxed out a relationship in my original 3ds save file
nice and simple
evil music >:))
dont lie to me, you never fully heard any of the opening tracks, you just skipped past the dialouge
seems like a bit of an extension of 063
yes that is running from something music
i mean it does sound like holy music. never liked chorales anyway
this loop does sound good tho, just too short and not enough substance. imagine if it had a remix tho
it is funny tho
not sure if the title is a pun or not
dabadabaduhhhh
i dont know what this song reminds me of
bitch
oh no :00
evil cave music >:))
door
bam. bam bam. dudududududududu
Generically evil.
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon did reversed music better.
badabap bap baabaabaabaabaabaabaaaa...
Stop yawning, damn song.
Get your ass out of the wind west. Oh! :)) And the tiny voices :))!
Medieval evil.
The wind instrument: ooooooooOOOOoooooooo.
I have been tainted by the stage event music, it is stuck in my head like a leech. This song is better than this but it haunts me.
Embodiment of a sore >:)).
Stop hurting the bass, it keeps saying 'ow'.
LET ME BACK INSIDE IT'S TOO HOT I'M GOING TO MELT
Evil dubstep.
This sounds... like... generic evil tower music.
Scratching your head, but it's cold.
Mysterious, but it's cold. And you're still scratching your head.
Ooo, evil manor, don't care.
You are a silly game about Miis getting their faces stolen, stop being so serious.
Waoaw, waoaw, waoaw, waoaw.
Jaunty tune, I guess.
Oooooooo... Auuuuuuuu...
Very annoying when it loops, but I like it so it doesn't get 'ew' tier.
PLEASE YOU KEEP SETTING ME ON FIRE GET ME OUT OF THE HEAT
Manaical villain of a fantasy setting reveals their evil plan.
You never hear this after a certain point.
I got so good at identifying each one and their tier that I instantly knew the cost of the battle.
Especially with snurp grinding. I spent ages trying to find the rare snurps that I honed my still to identity these, that I knew when a battle would have a large amount of the snurps or not.
Okay, I get it, you're evil.
STOP YOU ARE TOO POSITIVE THE WORLD IS GOING TO END
Gets annoying after you level up your party too many times.
Same sentiment.
Are... the voices trying to rap?
Why in fuck does the castle have it's own title theme?!
Welcome to Christmas...
Peculia reminds me of... Pinkie Pie... for some very apparent reason.
Yes, the reverse effect of Miitopia's otherworld. Of course.
i do understand the discord in the song, its just not very good and appealing to the ears.
no
this is the first alphabetically and i always have to suffer for it because my music app is shit. i just dont like it its too fugfuhygfcuygfc for me
>:||
i never understood why greenhorne had 2 major walk around areas. maybe it was so that new players would get more hooked, or they just put all their effort into the first area
never liked this dark lord theme, i heavily preferred the darker lords theme.
is that a complex time signature i detect?
STOP BLASTING ME WITH THE SUN
Get sent to the dungeon-basement, idiot.
The ancient Egyptian aesthetic is everywhere. Pick another one or do it better than everyone else.
GET THAT SHIT OUTTA HERE!
Shut your fuck up with the whimsy, I am anti-whimsy in this area. I do not care if you :3, I have no tolerance for that.
I am going to send you to Wacky Workbench Bad Future.
Do I even have to say it?
are you blind miis?
